Fall Florida Meetings 2007
One of the objectives of Relief Ministries Calvary Chapel Sarasota is to more.  We
aren't interested in reinventing the wheel.  We also know that there are many
people and/or fellowhips/organizations that desire to do relief work but don't
necessarily know how or what to do when.  All of these reasons and more are why
we network.

We desire to stay active in our community and state and to connect with others
who are like-minded.  We offer training to anyone interested in disaster relief.
Most importantly, we want to connect with those who desire to help should a
disaster occur, whether the disaster strikes in our area or somewhere else.

We had been in contact with several churches in the state and wanted to have a
meeting in a few different areas.  Tim and a couple of other guys from CC Costa
Mesa, and Gary from Mercy Chefs agreed to come to Florida and help us with
these meetings.

We set up three meetings.  The first one was in Sarasota and we had about
twenty-fine people show up from Sarasota, Bradenton, St. Pete and the
surrounding areas. The attendees were from several different churches, not just all
CC's!  We made some good connections and our networking got off to a great start.

Tim, Gary and I each talked a little about what the Lord was doing in our
ministries and lives and shared the visions that the Lord had given each of us.

We continued the meetings by going to CC Ft. Lauderdale and met with Keith and
Jason there.  Pastor Vic from CC Aventura met with us.  We had a nice lunch on
campus as we discussed disaster relief.  Afterwards Keith took us on a tour of their
facilities, highlighting the relief side of things.  They have an awesome set up and
are ready for the next major storm to come their way.  They are also set up with
their local government who will use their property as the central point of
operations should a disaster come their way.  When Wilma hit, their facility was
vital to the government's relief efforts as well as to the efforts of Samaritan's
Purse.

I've included some pictures of their operation that you can view by scrolling down

Our next stop was CC Merritt Island.  Due to a scheduling problem, Gary had to
attend a meeting in Orlando so we separated.  The rest of us continued on.  We
had a great meeting of about twenty people.  They came from several different
denominations and from different areas of that part of the state.  Once again we
made some good connections and got to hear what the Lord has been doing in other
ministries and lives.

These meetings were truly a great start to the networking aspect of our ministry.
